Waco Tribune Praises New VA Center of Excellence
The Waco Tribune has an editorial out this morning about the exciting promise held by the new VA Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans, noting that "Central Texans should take pride in the center’s charge."
According to the Tribune, the center's aim includes "developing a keener understanding of how PTSD develops, how it manifests itself in different environments, then crafting an early-detection system for preventing or treating the condition."
They also note that "many paved the way" for the center by "fighting to save the veterans hospital from closing or downsizing earlier this decade, when we were already at war in Iraq and Afghanistan" and offer praise to Senator Hutchison and Congressman Edwards for working with local leaders to make the center a reality.
